“…excels as the mouthpiece of this heartless 'Ingrate'. …”

Soprano Nikki Treurniet excels as the mouthpiece of this heartless ‘Ingrate’. — Monteverdi Madrigals, Dutch National Opera

“…fantastically confident voice and radiant tones,”

Nikki Treurniet’s Susanna pulls all the strings over three and a half acts. With a versatile, fantastically confident voice and radiant tones, she shaperd her role and showed all its facets from girlish to sly. In the fourth act, she also demonstrates a moving emotionality. I suffered with her in every scene. It doesn’t get any better than that.

ABOUT NIKKI

Dutch soprano Nikki Treurniet has established herself as a sensitive and versatile soloist, performing opera, orchestral repertoire and chamber music on international stages.

As a light lyric soprano with a lusciously warm sound, Nikki feels at home in repertoire ranging from the baroque to newly commissioned works of the present day. She is gaining recognition for her particularly sensitive interpretations of Mozart and is particularly drawn to the music of the late-romantic French impressionists.

This season she will sing Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel at Staatsoper Hannover and will perform contemporary opera The Shell Trial at the opera forward festival at Dutch National Opera at home in The Netherlands. She will sing Bach’s Matthäus Passion on tour with the Philharmonie Zuid Nederland and his Johannes Passion with the Residentie Bachkoor. In the spring she will sing the soprano soloist in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung in Hannover.

For four seasons (2019-2023) Nikki was a member of the ensemble at Staatsoper Hannover extending her operatic repertoire roles to include Blanche (Dialogues des Carmélites), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Despina (Così fan tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Musica/Euridice (L’Orfeo), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Lenio (The Greek passion)

Iseut la Blonde (Frank Martin’s Le vin herbé), Emmy (Marschner’s Der Vampyr) and working with directors Lydia Steier, Theu Boermans, Wolfgang Nägele, Ersan Mondtag and Barbora Horáková.
